“Hi – I’m Rachel, one of the RIDE support crew for 2022. Are you ready to take on a challenge, get on your bike and help accelerate cancer research?

“Ride to Fight Cancer is the perfect opportunity to get in great shape, have fun with your mates and enjoy the great outdoors – all in support of a fantastic cause.

“So why not be part of a very special experience this April? We’ll be there to support you with your fundraising and training – and to cheer you along too!”

How about rallying your workmates to come together in support of a great cause? Plus, if your company is up for match-funding your team’s fundraising efforts, you could double the contribution you make to cancer research at Peter Mac.

If you’re part of a cycling club, how about forming a RIDE team with a group of club members? You could dial things up by aiming to complete your distance in one, two or three epic sessions and get some friendly competition going!

“I was first diagnosed with cancer in 2011 and have been battling with the disease ever since.

“Over the past 12 months I was happily raising funds and volunteering at Peter Mac. However, my last check-up in December 2021 brought me an unwanted Christmas gift. I had early stage cancer in my bladder and ureter (the tube leading from bladder to kidney) and had to have another 6-week course of treatment.

“I distract myself from the treatment by focusing on my recovery and on fundraising and training (a bit slower than usual). With my early diagnosis I am very confident that after treatment I will come out stronger and re-energised.”

– Graeme Sissing, long-term supporter of Peter Mac

Your questions
answered

What support will I get to help me tackle RIDE?

You’ll have a dedicated personal coach soon after you join us. They’ll be there to answer your questions, give advice and share both fundraising and
training resources.

How will I track my cycling kms?

You can either track your distance automatically (by connecting to Strava) or manually on your fundraising hub, whichever you prefer.

Will there also be a Unite to Fight Cancer event this year?

Yes – this year instead of hosting a ride and walk Unite to Fight Cancer event in October, we will be hosting two virtual events; Ride to Fight Cancer in May and Walk to Fight Cancer in October.

Any other questions?

You might find the answer on our FAQs page – but if not, or if you’d prefer to chat to someone, please get in touch with us. We’ll be happy to help!
